How Educators Can Promote Creativity In Classroom

Creativity is based on thinking unconventionally and generally defined as the phenomenon of developing new processes, constructs, or ideas. Creativity is about having time to daydream or simply reflect, understanding that there is no single right answer, and appreciating and valuing failure if it comes. Moreover, it nurtures human development, innovation and helps us adapt and thrive in increasingly complex and uncertain times.

Today studies believe that schools should implement the concept of creativity in classrooms. However, most of the educators are unaware on how to practice this creative learning.

Here are some methods that can be used:

Emotional Connection
Studies show that the best creativity instruction lies in the emotions of the learner.

For Example, if teachers give students a project related to community problems like environmental hazards. It can help in sprouting creativity within the child because of the human touch and emotional connection in it.
Many secondary schools in Bhayandar and Mira Road find this concept very worthy and valuable and make it a point to implement at least one such activity in the classroom that caters to human emotional connection. This helps students learn better while being connected to the topic.

Incorporate Hands-On Learning

Hands-on learning is a great way to apply a creative twist to traditional education. It engages students on a deeper level and helps them to think better.

For Example:  While teaching maths or physics - one way to teach and explain the concept of velocity is to ask students to build paper airplanes and use calculators to predict their speed. This method helps students learn complicated subjects in an easier way.

Improve Classroom Environment

Classroom environment plays an important role in enhancing creativity in children.

Few ways teachers can use to improve classroom environment are:

•    Introduce more discussions and interactions amid students
•    Establish expressive freedom. A classroom should be a place where students feel safe to share ideas. By allowing flexibility you help promote creativity in the minds of students.
•    Create a classroom for visual reflection. Visual reflections give children more opportunity to absorb information more deeply, thus allowing them to enhance their creative and contextual understanding of the content.

Encourage Curiosity
Creativity is intrinsic in nature. Try to promote creativity by stepping into their viewpoint to find what motivates them. Student’s interest is a great place to start on what drives their own thinking tank. When you encourage student’s curiosity, they are able to explore their world in a better way.

Educating a child today involves not only teaching them worthwhile facts and figures but also providing them with the skills they’ll need to enjoy a rich and successful life. So while you look for the best schools in Mira Bhayandar or anywhere else in Mumbai, make sure you opt for a school that promotes creativity in classroom learning.
