Ways to Raise Kind Children

Studies reveal that kindness is a path to happiness and improved health. Therefore it’s important that you raise kids to be kind in life.

Here are a few ways to raise kind children

  • Teach Your Kids Compassion

Fostering compassion in children is the best way to prevent verbal, physical, and emotional aggression from taking root. For example, you can use meal time as an opportunity for emotional compassion. Try to resist fighting about food so you and your child can focus on simply being together.
A growing number of IGCSE Schools in Mira Road and other parts of Mumbai have initiated programs that teach compassion skills to children.  By exploring a topic on an emotional level or by organizing an activity - they let children develop the skill of compassion and empathy towards others.

  • Be A Role Model

When children have nurturing parents and guardians who deliberately model helping others, they, in turn, are likely to feel an impulse to help out, too. By seeing someone else perform an act of kindness they tend to be more sympathetic and helpful to other children when they hurt themselves.

  • Encourage Children To Join A Cause

It’s essentials for kids to understand about their society and be concerned and empathetic for those citizens who live in other communities and culture.  When children start participating in social causes like charity and assistance they get prepared to connect with people of all backgrounds.

  • Remove Negative Thoughts

Parents and guardians who articulate positive feelings raise children who are kinder and more compassionate toward others. Ensure you eliminate behaviors like yelling, spanking, and threatening etc; while at home.
In fact, expressing positive thoughts is also considered good for your health. In increases oxytocin—a hormone that fosters bonding and connection, and lowers blood pressure. In addition, positive thoughts also enhance mood and motivation for good body, mind, and soul.

  • Talk to them and Spend Time With Them

Your child must be studying in one of the best schools in Bhayander, however, as a parent, it’s important that you talk to them about their time spent in school. Talk about ethical dilemmas your he/she might face in the classroom, at lunch, or during recess. Come up with suggestions and role-play possible solutions. Encourage your children to see conflicts from another person’s perspective. Discuss ways they can compromise between their needs and those of others.
Children do not learn kindness by only thinking about it and talking about it. They need motivation and learning from you and the school as well.
Kindness is a defining aspect of civilized human life. Therefore it must be taught to children at a younger age so that they contribute to a better world tomorrow.

Things Parents Need to Inform the Teachers

While a teacher is considered an expert in education, no one understands a kid better than parents. Hence it’s essential for parents to inform teachers about issues that a child may be facing at home - that may otherwise affect his/her’s school performance. This will help teachers understand and help the kid to perform in a better way.
Whether your child is studying in one of the top schools in Mira Bhayandar or in one of the best international schools in Mumbai – ensure you share the below important things with your child’s teacher.

Health Issues
If your child is suffering from any kind of serious health condition, let his/her teacher know about it. It’s also helpful to inform the teacher and the school whether your kid has been diagnosed with conditions like frequent urination, allergy, asthma, weak memory, etc. This will help the teacher to better understand your child’s ability to learn things and will lay the groundwork for a supportive relationship throughout the academic year.

Learning Pattern
Your son may be a top performer in history or science but may be weak in other languages. Or maybe your daughter is fond of art and craft but struggles with maths and other subjects. If you inform the teacher about his/her’s learning behaviour up front, they will find different ways to help your children improve in the areas they need it most. This will improve your child’s overall performance.

Personality traits
Personality traits of a child are better known when they are at home.  Maybe your kid is extremely introvert and shy and feels nervous about meeting new students and new teachers in the school. Or perhaps your toddler is very mischievous at home and you’re concerned he will be doing the same at school etc. Be it any kind of social or behavioural issue, it’s best to inform teachers before it creates a problem for the child at school.

Family issues
In case if your family is going through a major problem like a divorce, a serious illness, death, financial loss or a move - inform the teacher about the same. Any kind of family issue could affect your child’s mental and physical health. Even if your kid seems to have adjusted to the bad family situation, ask the teacher to be a little attentive so they can watch for any unusual behavioural changes in your child, while at school.

The key to your child’s success in school is for you and the teacher to have open communication.  Therefore many International Schools in Dahisar and Mira Road are taking the initiative to make it easier for teachers to foster a positive relationship with the child.

The testimony and statements received by parents on the open day allow teachers to focus towards developing and moulding the young mind. In fact, the faculty members operating in these top schools in Mira Bhayandar are now moving in sync with the vision and mission statement of developing confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged learners.
